Technical Communication Topics Article: Readability as Literacy Justice

Portland State University

This project allowed me to deepen my expertise in a specialized area of technical communication while practicing public-facing knowledge dissemination. Beyond the visible article and edit, this work involved strategic audience analysis—shifting tone from a professional wiki to a neutral, encyclopedic style for Wikipedia. I navigated the complexities of verifiability and notability standards, ensuring all content was backed by reliable sources. The process also required me to engage with Wikipedia’s collaborative editing culture, responding to feedback and exploring a neutral point of view. This experience strengthened my ability to communicate technical concepts accessibly and ethically, bridging academic knowledge and public understanding.
